Gearing Up for the Teachers' Day!

As we are gearing up for the Teachers’ Day celebration, it would be great to have a post on what Teachers’ Day is all about!

In India, our forefathers had given great importance to the relationship between teachers and students. The students used to learn just by coming in contact with their teachers.

No wonder one of the prayers before the teaching session used to be like this:

"May God protect us both, the teacher and the taught,
May He be pleased with us,
May we acquire strength,
May our study bring us illumination,
May there be no enmity between us."

We teachers, can tell you - we have been molded by our teachers!

The impact they created was so great!

It is all so important because, the way we teach, the way we behave, the way we interact with the students are as important as the content we teach!

So keeping all this in mind, let us look forward to that special day!

Why is Teachers' day celebrated?

In India5th September is celebrated as Teachers' day as a mark of tribute to the contributions made by teachers to the society. As you all know, September 5th is the birthday of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who was the President of India. He was a staunch believer of education, a well-known diplomat, scholar, and above all a great teacher.

In 1962, when Dr. Radhakrishnan became the President of India, some of his students approached and requested him to allow them to celebrate 5th September, his "birthday". But, Dr.Radhakrishnan’s reply was, "instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege if September 5th  is observed as Teachers' day". The request showed Dr.Radhakrishnan's love and passion for the teaching profession. From then onwards, the day has been observed as Teachers' Day in India.

Teachers’ day is now one of the occasions that is looked forward by the teachers and students alike as it is a special day when students take charge and perform regular activities that are performed by teachers. On this day, students realize what it means to be a teacher and what it means to control the future of the students in their classes.

Apart from the fun aspect of the day, it is also a day when one can look back, admire and get inspired by Dr. Radhakrishnan, a village boy, who grew up to become one of the most respected leaders of India.

Rosebuddies have decided to make it big and are getting ready for a blast on this special day!

Looking forward to that GREAT day…..

Thank You!

  1. Yes !! Sunitha,I agree with the Teachers Day post.My opinion is tat ...The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book. In teaching you cannot see the fruit of a day's work. It is invisible and remains so, maybe for twenty years. It has been rightly said:-
" Teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions".

  3. happy teachers day to all our teacher

a poem for my dear teacher

    A Teacher Is…
    Someone who is wise...
Who cares about the students and wears no disguise.
But is honest and open and shares from the heart.
Not just lessons from books, but life where you are.
A teacher takes time to help and tutor.
With English or math or on a computer.
It's Teachers who's patient, even in stress.
Who never gives less than the very best!
Not that I was the perfect student,
But you were the perfect teacher for me!
