Idiom Adventure

We wanted to update you on an exciting initiative we've introduced for our students. In an effort to enhance their language skills and create a deeper understanding of expressions, we have initiated a daily posting of simple idioms. The objective behind this initiative is to encourage the children to incorporate these idioms into their daily conversations, thereby gaining a comprehensive grasp of their meanings. Idioms play a crucial role in language development, and we believe this practice will not only enrich their vocabulary but also enhance their overall communication skills.

Furthermore, to make the learning experience more engaging, we have planned a quiz based on these idioms. The contest is scheduled to take place in the first week of March 2024, once we have covered approximately 50 idioms. This quiz will not only serve as a fun and challenging activity but also as an assessment of the students' proficiency in using the idioms they've learned.

We encourage you to support and motivate the children to practice these idioms on a daily basis. Embracing the beauty of idioms and understanding their usage will undoubtedly contribute to their language development and overall cognitive growth.

Harvesting Joy: Happy Pongal @Primrose!

On 12th January, as the sun cast its golden rays over Primrose, an air of festive excitement filled the air,
marking the beginning of a joyous Pongal celebration.

The heart of the celebration pulsated with a variety of cultural performances showcasing the diverse traditions of the region. The rhythmic beats of traditional music echoed through the air as students adorned in vibrant attire presented classical dance performances, bringing to life the cultural heritage of Pongal. The energetic folk dances resonated with the spirit of the festival.

Pongal at Primrose transcended beyond being a mere showcase of cultural performances; it emerged as a cherished occasion dedicated to the revitalization of traditional games that have withstood the test of time, passing down through generations. The event not only celebrated the rich tapestry of cultural heritage but also served as a platform to breathe new life into age-old pastimes that carry the essence of our collective history. Participants and spectators alike were immersed in the joy of reconnecting with games that hold a special place in the hearts of our ancestors, fostering a sense of continuity and nostalgia. In essence, Pongal at Primrose became a vibrant one woven with the threads of tradition, offering a glimpse into the timeless games that have endured through the ages.

The school came alive with the resonant sounds of laughter and the spirit of friendly competition during Pongal at Primrose. Students eagerly participated in classic games such as Uri Adithal (pot-breaking), infusing the celebration with a delightful and playful atmosphere. Beyond the sheer enjoyment, these traditional games served as poignant reminders of the enduring values of teamwork, strategy, and physical activity. The echoes of joyous celebration reverberated through the air as students collaborated in their efforts to succeed in these age-old games. Whether orchestrating coordinated strategies to break the pot or showcasing their agility in other traditional activities, the students were not merely engaging in recreational pastimes; they were actively embodying and promoting the essence of teamwork.

The Pongal Celebration at Primrose School was the celebration of the richness of tradition, culture, and unity. From cultural performances that showcased the diversity of the region to traditional games that echoed the joy of the harvest season. நாம் கொண்டாடும் விழாக்கள் ஒவ்வொன்றும் ஒற்றுமையை பறைசாற்றும் வகையில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டவை. அவ்வகையில் மூத்த குடியான தமிழ் குடியால் பின்பற்றப்பட்டு வரும் ஒரு பண்டிகையே நாம் கொண்டாடும் பொங்கல் பண்டிகையாகும். சங்க காலம் தொட்டு கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வரும் இப் பொங்கல் பண்டிகை ஆண்டுதோறும் நம் பிரம்மோஸ் பள்ளியில் விமர்சையாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகின்றது.

இந்த ஆண்டு நம் பள்ளி 25ஆம் ஆண்டு வெள்ளி விழா காணவிருக்கும் இவ்வேளையில் பொங்கல் விழாவானது மிகச் சிறப்பாக திட்டமிடப்பட்டு, வெள்ளி விழா ஆண்டின் துவக்கமாக மிகுந்த உற்சாகத்துடன் துவங்கியது என்றால் அது மிகையாகாது.

மிகக் குறுகிய கால இடைவெளியில் இவ்விழா மிகச் சிறப்பாக அமைய நம் பள்ளி மாணவர்கள், ஆசிரியர்களின் ஒத்துழைப்பு அளப்பரியாத ஒன்று. அந்த வகையில் இவ்விழா முழுவதும் நம் பாரம்பரியத்தை பறைசாற்றும் வகையில் அமைந்தது. கொண்டாட்டங்கள் என்பவை முழுவதுமாக மாணவர்களை மகிழ்வித்து உச்சத்தில் நிறுத்துவதாக அமைய வேண்டும் என்றாலும், இவ்விழா நம் பண்பாட்டு வரலாற்றை பற்றிய சிறு புரிதல் மாணவர்கள் மனதில் எழ வேண்டும் என்பதை மையமாகக் கொண்டு திட்டமிடப்பட்டது.

மாணவர்கள், குறுகிய காலத்தை பொருட்படுத்தாமல் அவரவர் இவ்விழாவில் தங்களை ஈடுபடுத்திக் கொண்டு செயலாற்றிய விதம் மிகச் சிறப்பு. மேலும் மாணவர்கள் விழா நாளன்று வண்ணமயமான ஆடைகளில் தங்களை அலங்கரித்துக் கொண்டு இவ்விழாவில் பங்கேற்றுக்கொண்டது மிக அழகு. அதேவேளையில் விழா செழுமை அடைய சக மாணவர்கள், ஆசிரியர்கள் அனைவரையும் எவ்வித சோர்வும் இன்றி அன்றைய தினம் முழுவதும் உற்சாகமூட்டினர்.

இவ்விழா இத்துணை சிறப்புற அமைய மாணவர்களின் உற்சாகமே ஊக்கமாக அமைந்தது எனலாம். கலை நிகழ்ச்சிகள் அனைத்தும் நம் பாரம்பரிய கலைகளான சிலம்பம், ஒயிலாட்டம், கிராமிய நடனம் இவற்றுடன் நம் பாரம்பரிய விளையாட்டுகளும் நிகழ்த்தப்பட்டமை மாணவர்களை ஆற்வமடைய செய்தது. இவற்றுடன் பொங்கல் விழாவின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை அறிய வேண்டும் என்ற நோக்கில் இப்பண்டிகை சங்ககாலம் தொட்டு இன்று வரை நாம் கொண்டாடி வரும் விழா என்பதையும் சோழர் காலத்தில் எவ்வாறு பெயர் சூட்டப்பட்டு கொண்டாடப்பெற்றது என்ற வரலாற்றையும் எடுத்துரைத்து உணவின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை மாணவர்களுக்கு உரைத்தது அவர்களின் மனதில் சிறு விதையை விதைத்ததாக கருதி இவ்விழா முழுமை அடைந்தது.

நிறைவாக ஆசிரியர்களின் சமத்துவ கும்மி, மாணவச் செல்வங்களின் ஒற்றுமையைப் போற்றும் கும்மியாட்டம் திருவிழாக் கோலம் பூண்டு, சமத்துவ பொங்கலின் முழுமை மாணவச் செல்வங்களால் உச்சம் பெற்று இனிமையாக நிறைவுற்றது.

The highlight of the event was the generous donations made by our young learners to various orphanages and old age homes, truly embodying the essence of the season.

In the true spirit of Christmas, our children embraced the joy of giving back to the community. This year, our focus was on spreading kindness and goodwill by supporting those who may need it the most. They worked together to create a collection that would bring joy and comfort to the residents of various orphanages and old age homes.

As the donations were prepared for distribution, the children learned valuable lessons about empathy, gratitude, and the true meaning of Christmas. These experiences will undoubtedly shape their understanding of the importance of giving and inspire a lifelong commitment to helping others in need. We are immensely proud of our students for their selfless acts of kindness and their commitment to making a positive impact on the world around them. Their generosity serves as a reminder that even the smallest gestures can make a significant difference in the lives of others.
