Day 1 - 15th Feb, 2024

Today, we delved into Sustainable Development Goal No. 1, which focuses on eradicating poverty.
We checked the Wh – Questions about poverty.

1. What is poverty?
2. Why does poverty exist?
3. Where is poverty common?
4. How can we end poverty?

Poverty, in essence, is a multifaceted condition characterized by a lack of resources, opportunities, and access to basic needs such as food, shelter, education, and healthcare. It manifests differently across regions, with urban areas often facing different challenges than rural communities.

Poverty can be found in various forms and degrees across the globe, affecting individuals, families, and entire communities. It exists in both developed and developing countries, albeit with differing levels of severity and root causes.

Understanding the root causes of poverty requires analyzing a multifaceted web of socio-economic factors. These encompass, among others, deficient educational systems, limited employment prospects, and inadequate access to crucial services.

Alleviating poverty requires a comprehensive approach that addresses its root causes and empowers individuals and communities to break free from the cycle of poverty. In contemplating how to eradicate poverty, students can offer valuable insights and perspectives. Encouraging them to reflect on this issue and share their thoughts with teachers enables the school to compile a diverse range of ideas and suggestions to be forwarded to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). By contributing to this collective effort, the school plays its part in advocating for meaningful action towards poverty alleviation on a national level.
