Be a Buddy, Not a Bully

Anti-Bullying and Mental Health Week - 6th - 10th Nov,23

Mental health is a topic that affects us all, and in today's interconnected world, it's more crucial than ever to address the various factors contributing to mental well-being. One such factor is bullying, an issue that affects countless individuals worldwide. In recognition of this concern, we have decided to hold an awareness week as "Anti-Bullying and Mental Health Week" to shed light on this issue and promote positive change.

Understanding Bullying - Bullying is not a new phenomenon, but its impact has taken on new dimensions in the age of technology and social media. Bullying comes in many forms, from physical and verbal abuse to online harassment, exclusion, and more. Victims often suffer from low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. It's important to recognize that bullying affects both the victim and the perpetrator, as the latter may also struggle with mental health issues that drive their harmful actions.

Why a Dedicated Week Matters - Anti-Bullying and Mental Health Week is not just an observance; it's a call to action. The awareness and activities during this week are essential for several reasons.

Raising Awareness - It's crucial to educate the students about the multifaceted nature of bullying and its long-lasting impact on mental health. By fostering empathy and understanding, we can build a more compassionate society. Teachers and students will give short speeches during the daily assembly.

Encouraging Discussions - This week provides a platform for open discussions about bullying and mental health. It allows students to share their experiences, seek support, and offer hope to others who may be suffering in silence.

Fostering Prevention - By addressing bullying and its connection to mental health, we can work towards preventing future incidents and creating better environments for everyone, especially children and young adults.

Drama -
The students of Classes IV – VIII will present a drama during the week, wherein a few students will showcase the issues about bullying and how it affects an individual.

What You Can Do - Participating in Bullying and Mental Health Week isn't just about acknowledging the problem; it's about being part of the solution.

Here are some ways you can get involved:

Share Your Experience - If you've been a victim of bullying, sharing your story can inspire others and let them know they're not alone. This can also be a reason for the bullies to realise that such issues will be addressed then and there.

Be Informed - Learn about the signs of bullying and mental health issues, so you can recognize them in those around you.

Promote Kindness - Encourage kindness and empathy around you. Stand up against bullying whenever you witness it.

Anti-Bullying and Mental Health Week is a powerful reminder of the deep connection between these two issues. By raising awareness, engaging in discussions, and promoting support and resources, we can work together to build a more compassionate and understanding school community that prioritizes the mental well-being of all its members. Let's commit to being part of the solution and empowering minds during this crucial week and beyond.

Fireless Canapes

On October 10th, we had the immense pleasure of hosting our "Fireless Canapes" event for the bright and curious minds of our LKG kiddos. It was a day filled with excitement, creativity, and, most importantly, an opportunity for our little ones to develop a valuable life skill. Fireless cooking, as we've discovered, is not just about creating delicious treats without the use of an open flame. It's about encouraging our children to explore their creativity, enhance their focus, and instil fundamental skills such as measuring, counting, and following instructions. But it's more than that. It's about making learning fun and helping our children appreciate the nutritional value of the foods they consume, including fruits, nuts, dairy products, and vegetables.

"Fireless Canapes" event was a fantastic opportunity for our youngsters to take the first steps in their culinary journey. We believe that teaching kids about the nutritional value of different foods is crucial. The "Fireless Canapes" event allowed our kids to interact with fruits, and nuts, making learning about their benefits a hands-on experience. Thank you for being a part of this journey. We look forward to many more exciting and educational events in the future.

Special Thanks to Mrs.Vidhyalakshmi,  Ms.Jamuna, Mrs.Saritha, Mrs.Meerabai and Ms.Rakkini for organizing this exciting party!

Audition Results

We proudly announce the students who have earned their place in the upcoming skit. The auditions were intense, the competition fierce, and the decision-making process challenging. But after much deliberation, we are thrilled to introduce the selected students.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the students who auditioned for the Drama/Skit Club. The talent displayed was truly remarkable, and it was an incredibly tough decision to make. Please know that your hard work and passion for the theatre did not go unnoticed, and we encourage you to continue pursuing your love for drama. All the students will get their chance at some point.

Our Drama Club is going to be in full swing with rehearsals soon after the II Unit Test; stay tuned for the updates.

Peer-to-Peer Learning Launches This Teachers' Day

Teachers' Day holds a special place in the hearts of students and teachers alike. It's a day to celebrate the invaluable contributions of our mentors and express gratitude for their guidance. This year, on the occasion of Teachers' Day, our school is embarking on a unique journey to enhance student confidence through peer-to-peer learning.

The peer-to-peer activity will get started on Teachers' Day and it aims to create an environment where students can take on the role of both teacher and learner. By doing so, we hope to nurture self-assured individuals who are equipped with both knowledge and the ability to communicate it effectively. Here's a closer look at what this initiative entails.

The best way to learn is by teaching. Our students will have the opportunity to prepare and deliver short lessons on subjects they excel in. Whether it's Mathematics, Science, Literature, or any other subject, our young teachers will share their expertise with their peers. This experience will not only deepen their understanding of the subject matter but also boost their self-confidence. This hands-on approach will help them build leadership and communication skills, essential for personal and professional growth.

The inaugural sessions of the 'Peer-to-Peer Learning' activity will be held from 9 am to 10:30 am on this Teachers' Day.

Thank You

Is mobile phone playing a villain in your child’s life?

In recent years, mobile games have become an integral part of modern entertainment, captivating individuals of all ages. However, the increasing prevalence of young children engaging in mobile gaming has raised concerns about the potential negative impacts on their physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development. While mobile games can offer educational benefits when used appropriately, excessive and unregulated playtime can lead to a range of ill effects on small kids.

Cognitive Development Challenges: Excessive mobile game usage can hinder cognitive development in several ways. It can impede a child's ability to focus and concentrate on tasks outside of the virtual world. This can negatively impact their academic performance and overall learning capabilities. Some mobile games encourage instant gratification and impulsive decision-making, potentially hindering a child's patience, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities.

Social and Emotional Concerns: Spending significant time engrossed in mobile games can isolate children from real-life social interactions. They may miss out on opportunities for face-to-face communication, emotional understanding, and the development of empathy. Moreover, the competitive nature of some mobile games can lead to frustration, anger, and a skewed understanding of success and failure. This, in turn, can impact a child's self-esteem and emotional well-being.

Addiction and Behavioral Issues: Children are more susceptible to forming addictive behaviors, and mobile games are designed to be engaging and habit-forming. This can result in compulsive gaming, leading to neglect of other important activities such as schoolwork, chores, and physical activities. Moreover, excessive gaming can contribute to mood swings, irritability, and even withdrawal symptoms when the child is unable to access the games.

Physical Health Implications: Extended periods of gameplay often result in sedentary behavior, leading to a decline in physical activity. This sedentary lifestyle contributes to issues like obesity and poor posture, which can have long-term consequences on a child's health. Additionally, prolonged screen time may cause digital eye strain, disrupted sleep patterns, and even affect brain development in the crucial early years.

Impact on Academic Performance: As children allocate more time to playing mobile games, they may prioritize them over their academic responsibilities. This can result in lower grades, decreased academic motivation, and an overall decline in educational performance. The lack of time spent on studying and reading can adversely affect a child's intellectual growth.

While mobile games can have positive aspects when used in moderation and with appropriate content, the ill effects of excessive gameplay on young children cannot be ignored. Parents play a crucial role in ensuring that children strike a balance between digital entertainment and other important aspects of their lives. Encouraging physical activities, setting screen time limits, and selecting age-appropriate and educational games are essential steps toward mitigating the detrimental impacts of mobile gaming on young minds. It is vital to recognize that a holistic approach to a child's development requires a healthy balance between virtual and real-world experiences.
